The Cops Are Trying to Take My Vote

I've been thinking about voting early, as I might be out of town next Tuesday. As I looked closely over a mailing concerning that, though, I realized that I won't be able to since it requires a photo ID. As of right now, my license is somewhere awaiting my check for the ticket resulting from my speeding on Lake Shore Drive. Hopefully it arrives before Election Day.
I've been worked up about things and have written several letters to a local newspaper. At this point I'm ready for it all to be over. It feels quite odd, but it looks like Barack Obama might actually become our next president, and that will be a beautiful moment in history. Let's face it, too, righties, he will better handle "our current economic crisis." Why are you so worried about the top 5%'s taxes, anyway. And don't tell me, "That's socialism." Adam Smith and our Constitution both posit the need for a progressive tax system. You confuse capitalism with democracy. The longer it is until Election Day, the more negative shenanigans we witness from the McCain camp. Enough already--you're not even acting as if you can do unity.
Send Palin and her new wardrobe back to Alaska. Send McCain to retirement. I'm not gloating to say that it's over, but I will go so far as to say it's divisiveness versus progress. Goodbye, Republicans, your reign is over. And voters, don't buy this new line that we should worry about Democratic control across the board. Or at least don't both tell me that and complain about the Democratic Congress--that's what divided power will get us, Congress proposes something and President Bush vetoes it.
On a last note, the movie W. was a bore. It was very sympathetic. One of the last scenes has the Cabinet puzzling over the lack of weapons of mass destruction--I don't buy it. As a story, too, it seems that Stone had a lot to work with, so why is the result so unengaging. Stone jumps around with the timeline too much toward the beginning. Also, some of the cast play their roles as caricature and others (mostly H.W. Bush) more as the actor him/herself. Expected a lot more. Maybe "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" will be better.
